About George Perkins Day Nursery

The day at nursery is structured around the children’s needs whilst allowing them to spend their time in a varied way. Children will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of stimulating activities, such as music, imaginative play, creative play, cooking, reading and stories, ICT and cognitive skills.

We provide opportunities for the children to sleep and rest in quiet rooms and have a safe outdoor area which provides a range of opportunities for the children including sand garden, growing beds and woodland area, we also have shade sails allowing the children to safely enjoy outdoor play as much as possible.

We recognise the valuable contribution music makes to children’s development and incorporate it in many of our activities, additionally we have a visiting music teacher who conducts bespoke sessions for the children.

The Local Area And Community

We like to make use of all local amenities to support the children’s learning and often visit Cannon Hill Park, the MAC, King’s Heath Library as well as local shops and places of interest. We have built up relationships with the Lenches Residential/Elderly Care Home and take groups of children for visits a couple of times a year.

A favourite weekly activity for a group of Saplings children is cooking the tea time meal for their friends which involves planning the menu, walking to the local supermarket to buy the ingredients and then cooking the meal. These ‘real life’ experiences are a valuable part of life at nursery.
